Walter Van Beirendonck SPRING 2011

 

Walter Van Beirendonck has emerged as one of my favorite menswear designers from Paris Fashion Week. He has embraced ethnic tones and prints, to develop a most memorable collection.  Entitled "HAND ON HEART" this beautifully crafted collection was a well mix of finely tailored suits to fantasy. "The main idea was to create a strong contrast between very classic men's fabrics (camel, grey flannel, checks, Harris tweeds), together with ethnic inspired, bright-colored fabrics, and hand-woven expressive fabrics almost looking like rugs" said the designer. One can only appreciate how brilliantly his vision has been articulated as each garment graces the runway. At the end of the show Van Beirendonck graciously bowed wearing a t-shirt which read “Something Big Is Coming.” I for one am ecstatic to see what’s in store! Note: Each African model was found in a street casting.

The Beginning

Fashion In A Nutshell. Though there is no way to describe my fascination with the Fashion industry, I'll do my best to explain it. My mother placed Faber Castell Watercolor Pencils in my hands when I was five! Ever since, I've worked towards becoming one of NY Fashion Week's greatest Designers!!! I've turned to my LOVE of footwear for inspiration; in hopes to launch my own footwear line. Deciding to never give up on my dreams, (And yes it was a decision) I've chosen to Blog about pursuing them. Fashion, Art, and Footwear are my true loves and I wish to share them with you. Enjoy!
